Bio treatment

A non-toxic, safe, and environmentally friendly treatment of your biological (bulk) goods.

EWS Bio treatment specializes in the preventive and curative treatment of insects and pests in a biological manner. Low-oxygen treatment, hot air treatment, and a combination of vacuum technology and MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) are examples of these poison gas-free, environmentally friendly methods. Effective and sustainable!

Low-Oxygen Treatment

Your valuable goods infected with insects? The last thing you want is to endanger food safety in the process of fighting them. Are you looking for a non-toxic, safe, and environmentally friendly treatment for your raw materials? A low-oxygen treatment is the solution!

A low-oxygen treatment is actually a biological fumigation that uses Controlled Atmosphere (CA). It is a technique where, as the name suggests, the atmosphere is controlled. By lowering the oxygen level to a critical level, insects in all stages of development are killed. Without the use of toxic products!

Controlled Atmosphere packaging

Our sister organization VacQPack specializes in biological techniques for treating and preserving high-quality raw materials in bulk packaging. By minimizing the oxygen content and packaging the goods in an oxygen-tight manner, quality parameters such as color and taste stabilize, there is no chance of reinfestation, and you prevent damage to the valuable goods during transport and storage.

Hot Air Treatment (ISPM15)

Due to a European ban on the use of methyl bromide, methyl bromide fumigations in accordance with ISPM 15 are no longer possible. The only alternative allowed for ISPM 15 treatments is a so-called hot air treatment.

EWS is certified to treat wooden packaging in accordance with ISPM 15 and is listed in the central register at of the Stichting Markering Houten Verpakkingen (SMHV). EWS can perform an ISPM 15 treatment on the following objects/items:

  • Dunnage wood
  • Pallet wood
  • Wooden crates
  • Dragline mats
  • Pallets

Heat Treatment (BMSB)

In Australia and New Zealand, incoming goods from containers must be free of the brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB). This is to prevent the spread and damage to crops and fruit. Therefore, goods in containers shipped from September 1 to May 31 must be treated. The mandatory measures apply to all risk goods for shipping to Australia and New Zealand. This can include breakbulk, vehicles, high & heavy equipment, as well as containers.
