Heat Treatment – BMSB

In Australia and New Zealand, incoming goods from containers must be free of the brown marbled stink bug (BMSB). This is to prevent spreading and damage to crops and fruit. Therefore, goods in containers shipped from 1 September to 31 May must be handled. The mandatory measures apply to all high-risk goods for shipment to Australia and New Zealand. This can be breakbulk, vehicles, high & heavy equipment and containers.

Two treatment methods are possible. The first method is heat treatment. Heat treatment is a form of bio treatment and therefore eliminates the use of toxic products.

The second method is fumigation. Fumigation of the affected goods in containers effectively kills the BMSB. Would you like to learn more about this method? Then click here.

EWS offers both treatments and handles containers, high & heavy equipment and loose goods.
